Fund for Public Education grants are available to all TCSD#1 schools, staff, and students. Before you apply for funding, please carefully read the instructions below.
HOW TO APPLY FOR FPE FUNDING:
- Contact us at info@fundforpubliceducation.org to ask about your project's eligibility (e.g. "I'd like to order new chairs and there's no district funding, can you help pay for it?").
- Once you have a preliminary thumbs up from us, you should check with your school's principal or your department's supervisor to ensure that they support your project.
- Next, check in with the district business office (and facilities if needed) to make sure that there is district support for the project. Be sure to follow district protocols. If you're unsure, ask your principal or supervisor.
- Once you, your principal, and the district are on the same page, your school will order the equipment using a Purchase Order or district credit card. This gets things rolling quickly.
- Once a PO, invoice, or receipt is issued, you should then submit a request to us through Submittable. Please have your receipts or invoices ready to upload.
- We then present that request to the Superintendent and to our board for final approval.
- Once we have that approval, we reimburse your school for the expense.
- This whole process should take about 2 weeks
FPE grants only provide funding for projects, programs, or materials that are NOT included in your school's site budget, or in the larger district budget. We do not cover salaries, international travel or expenses, or items that would create inequities between students or schools.
The Jim & Becky Rooks After School Activity Grant
Students can utilize this program, made possible by generous support of the Rooks family, to help cover registration fees, equipment purchases, or travel. The goal of the program is to promote student participation within art, sport, or educational activities. Inspired by the positive impact of afterschool activities on their lives, Michelle, Mikel, Rob, and Jim Rooks set out to create a program that would give every child the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop community connections. The program also honors the legacy of their parents, Jim and Becky Rooks.
All TCSD #1 students can apply for funding through this grant with a referral from any TCSD#1 staff member. Students must exemplify a passion for the activity/program they want to explore and briefly describe their need. Award amounts vary depending on activity specifics with a $200 maximum.
Feeding the Whole is a partnership between the Fund for Public Education and TCSD#1, which ensures that every child has access to nutritious and affordable meals at school. Feeding the Whole's Meal Support initiative provides free meals and school lunch debt assistance to students in need.
- Applications are accepted year-round
- Your application is completely confidential
- Many families who do not qualify for federal Free and Reduced Meal programs, DO qualify for meal support through Feeding the Whole

Hello friends! The Jackson Hole Food Collaborators is a group of local nonprofits and service organizations working together to address food security in our community. As part of this effort, we’re working to better understand the level of food security and food resources in our community. Your input is invaluable and we hope you’ll take a moment to complete this brief survey. One reply per organization please.
To celebrate this commitment to fostering food security in our community, the Fund for Public Education will provide 25 meals to TCSD#1 students in honor of each organization that completes the survey,

Quality Educator Grants are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Jackson Hole Foundation and the Fund for Public Education. The purpose of these grants is to celebrate and support teachers and projects that promote excellence in education. Winners are chosen based on the following criteria:
- Direct educational impact on students
- Benefit to the learning environment
- Financial need of the applicant
- Opportunity to foster additional impact though "train the trainer" activities
The deadline for all applications is 5pm Mountain on Friday April 26th, 2024.

APPROVAL TIMES:
School fundraisers are subject to the same financial approvals and processes as any other financial transaction within TCSD#1. Once you submit your application it will be subject to approvals as follows:
- Financial Goals up to $2k: Approval of principal
- Financial Goals from $2k to $5k: Approval of principal and FPE ED
- Financial Goals from $5k to $10k: Approval of principal, FPE ED, and TCSD ED of Resources
- Financial Goals from $10k to $25k: Approval of principal, FPE ED, TCSD ED of Resources, and Superintendent
- Financial Goals of $25k and greater: Approval of TCSD#1 Board of Trustees and FPE Board of Directors
Applications for fundraisers under $25k can typically be approved in 1-2 weeks. Applications for fundraiser greater than $25k may take up to one month to approve. Please plan accordingly.
Straighten Up will pay for an entire course of orthodontic braces for a child who would not otherwise have access to treatment. To be eligible the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be age 11-18
- Have a record of good oral hygiene, including documentation of regular dentist visits and cleanings
- Nominated by a school health professional through the Fund’s website
- Provide a Dental Referral Form from a licensed dentist
- Provide proof of annual income that is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Agree to attend all scheduled appointments, follow the orthodontist's instructions for care of teeth and braces, and complete all required follow-up care
Love Your Teeth will pay for dental care for a child who would not otherwise have access to treatment. To be eligible the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be recommended by a TCSD#1 school nurse
- Provide proof of annual income that is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Agree to attend all scheduled appointments, follow the dentist's instructions for care of teeth, and complete all required follow-up care
Applying for college or career training has become an expensive endeavor. Our College and Career Readiness Grants provide up to $250 of funding for students to pay application and test fees that are not already covered by the District.
Any TCSD#1 graduating senior may apply for this grant.
Jean Coldsmith was a champion for all students, but worked especially hard for those who had suffered trauma or loss in their lives. These, grants, created in her memory, pay for vital mental health services and are available to any TCSD#1 student who is in need of care. The application process is free and completely confidential. Awards vary in amount and are based on the services needed.
Any TCSD#1 counselor or school psychologist may apply for this grant on behalf of any student.
Donor-designated funds are available for a number of school-specific or program-specific projects including healthy meal support, student activities, and capacity-building projects. Grants from these funds are limited to TCSD#1 employees and Partnership Fund representatives who have approved access. Available balances should be consulted before an application is made.
